Simon Kuper, journaliste et écrivain, est né en Ouganda et a vécu à Londres, aux Pays-Bas, aux Etats-Unis, en Suède et en Jamaïque. Après des études à Oxford, Harvard et Berlin, il rejoint le Financial Times en 1994 et écrit dans la rubrique "finances". Aujourd'hui il est chroniqueur pour les pages de Sports, un domaine qu'il apprehénde avec un "?il d'anthropologiste". Il est l'auteur d'un ouvrage sur le football pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, publié en 2003.
