Dr. Satyajit Mondal is an assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna. He holds a B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT), an M.Tech. in Highway and Transportation Engineering from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) Shibpur, and a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi. Before joining NIT Patna, he gained extensive research experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad and IIT Roorkee and served as a senior research assistant at IIT (BHU) Varanasi.
Dr. Shiv Shankar Kumar is an accomplished academician and researcher specializing in Geotechnical and Earthquake Engineering. He currently serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Patna. Dr. Kumar earned his Ph.D. and M.Tech. in Geotechnical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, following his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology. His doctoral research focused on the dynamic response of soils under varied seismic excitations using cyclic triaxial tests, and he continues to explore soil-structure interaction, reinforced soil structures, and ground improvement techniques. Dr. Kumar’s extensive publication record includes over 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and multiple book chapters with prestigious publishers such as Springer and Elsevier. His work is widely cited in the fields of soil dynamics, liquefaction analysis, and seismic ground response studies.
Dr. Ankit Gupta presently serves as Professor and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) Chair Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi. He obtained Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and Master of Technology degree in Earthquake Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. He holds a bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from Government Engineering College Kota under Rajasthan University, India. His experience is in pavement maintenance and performance modeling, mechanistic analysis and design of pavements, traffic flow modeling and safety. During the last fifteen plus years, he has been involved in several academic, research and professional activities. His major research studies were focused on fundamental pavement design using mechanistic analysis, waste utilization in various pavement layers and traffic capacity and safety studies to enhance quality of ride/life initiatives.
Prof. Alexandre de Barros is a distinguished professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Calgary, with over two decades of academic, regulatory, and industry experience in the fields of air transportation, transportation engineering, and safety. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Transportation) from the University of Calgary in 2001, after completing a master’s in Operations Research and Transportation at the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica, Brazil, and a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Universidade Estadual de Campinas. Dr. Barros’s expertise spans a broad spectrum of transportation research, with a particular focus on aviation systems, traffic operations, transportation policy, and emerging mobility technologies. He has held pivotal roles in academia, government, and industry, including serving as Director of Airport Infrastructure at Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency, where he led regulatory and technical initiatives related to airport operations and safety.
