Description
Seasons Pass is a poetry collection focussed on the cyclical journey through the seasons of the year and life's emotions that come alongside these changes in nature. Beginning in autumn, we experience an atmosphere of cozy introspection; an appreciation of the comforts of colder days - warm beverages, chestnuts and gatherings with friends. As the days get even colder, however, this is followed by a sense of solitude and inner struggles. But these darker moments are overcome by the knowledge that spring is right around the corner. The deep, quiet moments of connection found in companionships fostered in the coldest months is another bright lifeline in the dark. Hope, light and growth comes with spring; a renewal and reawakening of shared joy in life's beauty. The appreciation of nature's resilience and its reflection in people thereby draws from different mythologies, from a Garden of Hope to the war god who gave the month of March its name. Summer then brings with it larger gatherings with friends, food and music as well as intimate, sometimes hidden moments with a lover, if out on an open field or at home during a thunder storm. Two years pass over the span of 35 poems, covering changes in love, self-reflection and the beauty of small, fleeting moments. Going from seasons of rest and retreat to those of belonging and unfiltered joy, love and affection are likened to natural, enduring forces. Readers are invited to find beauty in both the light and the dark and are reminded to appreciate the fragility and beauty of time, memory and connection.
